Initial Consultation and Fees
The initial consultation is an opportunity to discuss how you may be hoping psychotherapy could help you, and what is troubling you. The therapeutic relationship is an important element in psychotherapy and the initial consultation gives you a chance to see if you can imagine us working together. There is no obligation for you to proceed past this meeting. It may be that through our meeting it becomes apparent that psychotherapy would not be the most beneficial form of help for you, in which case, a suitable recommendation or referral would be offered.
- The initial session usually lasts for 90 minutes at a cost of £55.
- In some circumstances it may be helpful for it to run over 2 sessions.
- Weekly sessions are £50.
These run at a fixed time each week, having been mutually agreed. It is a commitment for both parties and ensures that that time is yours as long as we are working together. In some circumstances, such as if you do shift work, or business takes you away ,a more flexible arrangement could be possible.
As is standard practice in the Psychotherapy profession I charge for missed sessions, whether through illness or holiday, unless a holiday has been pre-arranged before the start of therapy.
I will bill you at the beginning of each month for the previous month's sessions. Fees are payable by cheque or cash.
My fees are reviewed annually.
All sessions are confidential apart from for the following ethical and legal reasons:
- I discuss my work with a qualified supervisor
- If I have any concerns that you are a serious risk either to yourself, or to another, I am legally obliged to share this information. Should this arise I would discuss this firstly with you, wherever possible.
